Housefly (Musca domestica) is known as carrier of diseases such as dysentery, diarrhea, typhoid, food poisoning, etc. During day hours house flies rests principally on ceiling and floors. Outside they rests in plants on grounds, garbage bins, etc. At night they rests principally on electric wires and dangling light cords indoors. In all situations they prefer corners and edges or thin objects such as wires and strings.


Mode of Treatment

  • Fly control is an intricate job which needs to be tackled under integrated pest management programme where in various control measures (proofing, hygienic conditions) are required to be implemented simultaneously because the chemical measures only cannot be substitute for other measures.
  • This treatment is carried out by spraying a suitable pesticide at the wall and floor junctions, staircases, corridors within the production area, toilets and harborage and breeding sites of the flies within the compound area.
